Amat Al-Alim Alsoswa
Media personality, diplomat, and politician Dr. Amat Al-Alim Alsoswa was born in Taiz Governorate and comes from Dhamar Governorate. She began her work as a broadcaster at Taiz Radio and then moved to work on television in Sana'a, becoming the chief broadcaster before being appointed Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information in the early 1990s.
She held a number of positions, including Non-Resident Ambassador to Sweden and Denmark, Ambassador to the Netherlands, and then Minister of Human Rights. She also worked as an Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Director of the Regional Office of the United Nations Development Programme for the Middle East.
She chaired the Yemeni Women's Union and has extensive external participation, during which she received many awards and medals, including the "Woman of the World" Award in the Middle East for 2003.
