Da'arah Saeed

The freedom fighter Da'arah Saeed, born in Radfan District, Lahij Governorate, in 1928, was the first woman to take up arms against the British colonialists as part of the leaders of the October 14, 1963, Revolution.

She was a member of the leadership of the Liberation Army in Radfan.

She carried out many guerrilla operations, inflicting significant losses on the British forces.

She was arrested in the mid-1950s after being wounded, but she succeeded in killing her jailer and escaped from prison shortly thereafter.

She was honored by President Salem Rubai Ali and President Ali Nasser Mohammed with numerous medals, including the Independence Medal, and was granted the rank of Colonel.

She was also honored by the Arab leader Gamal Abdel Nasser and passed away in 2002.
